Habitat loss is due to humans coming into the area and performing human activities such as: agriculture, oil digging, or for commercial reasons. When we effect an area of land like this it stops providing water, food, and shelter for the animals inhabiting it.
There are three major habitat loss contributors:
Habitat DestructionThe most common form if habitat loss is habitat destruction. Usually this occurs when a bulldozer or other forms of machinery come into an area and completely wipe out the vegetation, landforms, and any other form of the environment.
|
Habitat FragmentationHabitat fragmentation is when we literally cut the territory of land where a species lives and use it for our own personal benefit. We literally put roads, highways, and cities in the middle of the homes of animals during this process.
|
Habitat DegradationHabitat degradation is when a habitat is destroyed or the animal is forced to leave from pollution, forest fires, and the spread of invasive species. The habitat usually becomes incapable of housing living things and the animal is forced to leave.
